Echoes of Sorrow

In every 11 minutes, a life is lost

A woman's cry, a family's cost

Africa's daughters, brutally slain

Their dreams, aspirations, and futures in vain

Sub-Saharan Africa, a region of pain

Where girls go missing, and hope's in vain

Post-mortem reports, a grim, harsh tale

Raped, murdered, and discarded, without fail

What drives these killings, this senseless hate?

Is it mental disorders, or a plague that's great?

Why Africa, why Zambia, why our homes?

Is our law system flawed, or are perpetrators roaming?

We're tired of being silenced, marginalized, and worn

Our well-being ignored, our potential torn

We're not bitter feminists, but women who desire

To thrive, to lead, to live without fear of fire

We birth life, we nurture, we care

Our voices matter, our lives are precious, we declare

Stop abusing us, stop killing our sisters

We're tired of being victims, it's time to resist

Let's revitalize commitment, call for accountability

Demand action from decision-makers, it's time to be free

16 Days of Gender Activism, a chance to unite

Let's break the silence, let's ignite

The time to act is now, let's rise as one

For the women, girls, and lives lost, the fight's just begun.
